The Finish area about 50 minutes before the Race's Finish. Final preparations were being made and a large crowd was waiting for the Race to arrive.

When the Race first crossed the Finish it was the start of three laps. Benjamin King, Garmin - Sharp, and Greg Van Avermaet, BMC, were making a Breakaway but had a lead of only 25 seconds on the Peloton.

The Cannondale team was leading the Peloton to catch the Breakaway. Cameron Wurf was leading folowed by Maciej Bodnar.

After the first lap in Pasadena. Bradley Wiggins, Sky, in the Yellow Jersey, was in the Peloton which was still chasing the Breakaway.

The large crowd was going nuts waiting for the last lap of the Race.

With one lap to go the Teams were broken up in the Peloton. The Racers at the front including Edward King, Cannondale, Fredie Rodriguez, Jelly Belly, US National Champion, and Luis Enrique Davila, Jelly Belly, Mexico's National Champion.

The final sprint; Thor Hushovd, BMC, Norwegian National Champion, had made a move and Peter Sagan, Cannondale, started his attack to pass him.
